AI Is Powerful. But It Is Not Regulated.

Individuals and businesses are increasingly using AI tools to generate legal documents. This creates significant risk.

What AI tools are being used for

  • Drafting court claim forms
  • Writing witness statements
  • Generating defence pleadings
  • Creating contracts and agreements
  • Producing settlement proposals

What AI cannot do

  • Provide regulated legal advice
  • Ensure procedural compliance
  • Verify jurisdictional requirements
  • Apply case-specific strategy
  • Guarantee court-readiness

Incorrect filings can lead to:

×Claims being struck out
×Adverse cost orders
×Limitation period expiry
×Unenforceable agreements
×Procedural dismissals
×Wasted court fees

We regularly see individuals spend £10,000+ correcting AI-generated errors that could have been avoided with regulated review at a fraction of the cost.

The Solution

The Compliance Layer for AI-Generated Legal Documents

We sit between your AI tool and the court, regulator, or counterparty. Every document is reviewed by a qualified solicitor before it leaves your hands.

Step 1

Upload

Upload your AI-generated legal document through our secure portal. We accept all common file formats.

Step 2

Structured Legal Review

A qualified solicitor reviews your document against legal standards, procedural rules, and compliance requirements.

Step 3

Legally Compliant Output

Receive your reviewed document with a structured risk report, deficiency memorandum, or full re-draft.

Who Reviews Your Document

Every document submitted to Clarus is reviewed under the supervision of a qualified, SRA-regulated solicitor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Clarus operates under the supervision of a solicitor regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). All legal work is conducted under SRA regulatory standards, ensuring professional accountability and compliance.

Yes. All work delivered through Clarus is covered by professional indemnity insurance of up to £5,000,000, providing you with financial protection and peace of mind.

Clarus provides a regulated compliance layer for AI-generated legal documents. We review documents produced by AI tools (such as ChatGPT, Claude, or other AI assistants) and ensure they meet the standards required for legal proceedings or commercial use.

Clarus is not a replacement for full legal representation. We provide limited-scope, fixed-fee legal verification services. For complex litigation, ongoing disputes, or matters requiring court attendance, you should instruct a solicitor directly.

We review a wide range of AI-generated legal documents, including claim forms, witness statements, defence pleadings, contracts, settlement agreements, particulars of claim, terms of service, privacy policies, NDAs, employment contracts, and more.

You upload your AI-generated document through our secure portal. A qualified solicitor reviews the document against legal and procedural standards. You receive a structured output — either a risk report, deficiency memorandum, or a re-drafted document, depending on your selected service tier.

Turnaround times vary by tier: Tier 1 (Risk Report) is delivered within 48 hours. Tier 2 (Deficiency Memorandum) takes 3–4 working days. Tiers 3 and 4 (Re-Drafts) take 4–6 working days. Retainer clients receive priority 48-hour turnaround.

We review documents generated by any AI tool, including ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, CoPilot, and any other large language model. The source of the AI generation does not affect our review process.

Yes. All documents are transmitted and stored securely. We comply with UK GDPR requirements and maintain strict data handling protocols. Documents are retained only for the duration required to complete the engagement and for regulatory record-keeping.

We provide limited-scope legal review and verification services. This includes identifying legal deficiencies, compliance risks, and procedural errors. For Tiers 3–5, our solicitors provide strategic re-drafting, which constitutes regulated legal work.

Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis in accordance with our terms of engagement. If we are unable to deliver the agreed scope of work, a refund or credit will be provided. Once a review has been completed and delivered, refunds are generally not available.

Our primary jurisdiction is England and Wales. We can review documents intended for use in other jurisdictions on a case-by-case basis, but our expertise is in English law and the procedural rules of the courts of England and Wales.

Payment is collected upfront before work begins. We accept all major debit and credit cards, and bank transfers. All prices are quoted exclusive of VAT at the applicable rate.

Absolutely. Our retainer packages and Founder Legal Infrastructure Pack are specifically designed for businesses and startups that regularly generate legal documents using AI tools and need ongoing regulated oversight.

For documents exceeding 8 pages, please contact us directly for a custom quote. We will scope the engagement and provide a fixed fee before any work begins.

Document length is measured by page count using standard formatting: font size 11 or above, standard margins (2.54cm / 1 inch), and single or 1.5 line spacing. If your document uses smaller fonts or compressed formatting, we may reformat it to standard sizing before determining the applicable tier. Covers, contents pages, and appendices are generally excluded from the page count unless they contain substantive legal content.

No. Clarus does not provide litigation services, attend court hearings, or act as your solicitor on record. We provide document review and verification only. If you need representation, we can refer you to a suitable firm.

Clarus was founded by Jessica Fitzgerald, a qualified solicitor regulated by the SRA. The platform combines regulated legal expertise with modern technology to make legal compliance accessible to anyone using AI to generate legal documents.
